Rick Hawn and Tom Gallicchio stepped into the main event slot of WCF 9 Friday night after an injury forced Mike Campbell off the card, and delivered a grueling, high-level 3 round war. Hawn controlled and outpointed a more experienced and game Gallicchio to win a unanimous 30-27 victory and keep his undefeated record intact. Over 3,000 were in attendance for the 10 fights at the Shriner’s Auditorium in Wilmington, including familiar local faces from the UFC, an appearance by Butterbean, and several Boston Celtics players.

Untamed 30: Caged Combat eminated from one of their usual hotspots, White’s of Westport. It featured nine great fights that wavered between wars that went the distance and quick finishes. Luckily, they didn’t have the same ring girls as the first time they went there a few years ago.

CFX returned to the Plymouth Jungleplex for the third time on Saturday night for “Rumble in the Jungle 3″ which featured 22 total fights for a monster card in front of a large audience. Continuing with the big, fast-paced, spectacle shows that CFX has become known for putting on, 16 of 22 fights on Saturday ended inside of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. While the number of fights might seem overwhelming, the show moved along at a good clip with 4,162 people reported to be in attendance. The place was packed and full of energy.

Paddy Thompson knocked out Jose Valentin in the AFO main event on Saturday night to retain his welterweight title in impressive fashion. While the event was hurt by a few injuries and cancelled bouts, all the guys that fought delivered good action and the crowd was into it, with Thai Nguyen, Joe Lamoureaux, and Paddy “Thunder Kitten” Thompson getting the biggest support from the fans.

Friday was Combatzone’s 30th show at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH with Dennis Olson vs. John Manley headlining the event. The show had many battles going back and fourth with a lot of blood and guts shown by every fighter. Here is how the night went.

Bad weather didn’t stop a huge crowd of fight fans from showing up Saturday night at the Jungleplex in Plymouth for another installment of Cage Fighting Xtreme. CFX 6 “Rumble in the Jungle 2″ featured 16 fights in total with 5 amateur and 11 pro bouts, including a highly anticipated heavyweight main event between Christian Morecraft and Josh Diekman.

Traffic was lighter than normal, and the bartender allowed me to buy two beers at a time at the Palladium, so the night is off to a strong start. They have 14 fights on the show tonight, and its 7:45 as they are kicking things off.
