Current Events
From Old School
Some of our regional fighters are making it on the big stages; look for Rick Hawn next week as he will have his hands full when he challenges Michael Chandler for the Bellator Lightweight Title. Some of our regional promotions have announced their Main Events for their first shows of 2013. Last night on the radio show we wrapped up the 2012 Year End Awards, and we had one of the recipients in the studio; we talked New York MMA, which is also again in the news.
NorthEastMMA Radio
Last night on NorthEastMMA Radio we wrapped up the Year End Awards. One of the recipients was in the studio with us for this. We heard from Forrest Hobbick, NY ref and MMA judge on the state of MMAffairs in the Empire State. Todd the Hulk called in to say a quick hello. To hear last night’s show in its entirety, Click Here.
Thanks again to New Hampshire Fight League for their support of the radio show. Visit them at www.NHFL.biz.
Regional Fighters on the Big Stage
Rick Hawn is fighting for the Bellator World Lightweight Title next Thursday night. The Dracut, MA resident, now training full time in Montreal’s Tristar Gym, brings his 14-1 record to the cage to face current Champ Michael Chandler, who comes in at 10-0. We will bring you the full story next week.
Jimmy Quinlan (3-0, Mass BJJ) and Uriah Hall (7-2, Team Tiger Schulmann) will be fighting to get into the TUF House next Tuesday night. Season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter will air on FX on Tuesday nights. Good luck to our local boys!
Upcoming Regional Fights
In an E-mail that I received from CES yesterday, the promotion confirmed that Mike Campbell will face Abner Lloveras in the Main Event on their upcoming card. Campbell (12-4, ranked #2, Tri-Force) and Lloveras (15-6-1, ranked #4, Link) are both among the top ranked Lightweights in the region. They represent two of the best camps in the NorthEast. They will fight for the Lightweight Title.
Greg Rebello will journey to Maine to take on a rejuvenated Jesse Peterson for the Maine State Light Heavyweight Title on NEF Fight Night VI. Rebello (14-4, ranked #3 at LHW) trains out of Tri-Force in Rhode Island; he has long been one of the region’s top Middle/Light Heavyweight fighters. Peterson (7-2-1, Ranked #8 at Middleweight) splits his training between CMBJJ and SSSF. He is undefeated in his recent comeback and currently holds the Maine State Middleweight strap.
Art of Combat III, is just two weeks out, on January 25th at the Broom County Arena in Binghamton, NY. The Amateur event will be highlighted by Binghamton native Dickie White (6-1, ranked #3 Lightweight) v Frank Scalzo (4-2, #1 ranked Lightweight) for the Promotion’s 155lb Title. The event will also feature Quentin Gaskins (4-1, #2 ranked Featherweight) v Peter Mazzeo (4-0-1, #2 ranked Lightweight). Pro fights are not yet legal in NY, so it doesn’t get any better than this. We’ll have the full card up in a week or so.

Rebello is gonna have a good night in Maine , thats gonna be fun ,also by the way Denny Rebello should be listed as SYT and CCFA AS WELL AS Tri-Force as he still trains with all 3 camps !!
