Reality Fighting Mohegan Sun
From Old School

Reality Fighting returns to Mohegan Sun this Saturday night, February 25th. Reality Fighting, the longest running MMA promotion in the region, begins their eleventh year under the guidance of Kipp Kollar and Joe Cuff. This weekend the Reality Fighting Middleweight and Welterweight Titles are on the line in the Main and Co-Main Events.
Match maker Joe Cuff is bringing back one of their original New England MMA stars Nate Lamotte, who will face Brett Oteri for the Welterweight Title.

Nate “The Future” Lamotte (12-5) has been training and fighting out of Team Burgess in Manchester, NH since his beginnings as an MMA fighter in 2006. By his third or fourth fight (There were no Amateur fights back then; only Pro.) Nate was considered one of the regions best 170 pounders, even before there were NorthEast rankings. Nate has been widely considered one of the regions best, and he still is. He is a former Reality Fighting Welterweight Title holder, but has slipped from the top ten in the rankings in recent months purely due to inactivity; he has actually won his last two fights, but he has only fought twice in the last two years. Nate may be one of the best pure BJJ fighters in the Welterweight ranks. He will be looking across the cage at the former #1 ranked Welterweight Brett Oteri.

Brett Oteri (8-3) has slipped recently from the top of the 170 pound division. He has lost his last two fights to two of the region’s best, Ryan Quinn and Todd Chattelle. Brett has some wins over fighters like Tom Moreau, Chip Moraza-Pollard, and Robbie Roberts. He is real big for the Welterweight division and brings a powerful wrestling game to the cage.

This fight is intriguing as all get out. Nate has some of the best submissions in the game. He can fight standing up as effectively as he can off his back. Brett will likely try to use his wrestling to put Nate on the ground and keep him there, which is right where Nate likes to be. If Brett can avoid the submission for five rounds he could come away with a win here simply by keeping Nate down. But Nate is a constant threat to submit from anywhere at any time, and Brett has lost his last two fights from submission. Both Quinn and Chattelle submitted Oteri, and Nate is a better pure submission guy than either. A win here for Oteri would validate his abilities and his position in the Welterweight division. A win for Nate could light a fire in one of the regions favorite fighters over the last six years. Each fighter needs this win!

Alexandre “Vaca” Moreno (11-2) may be the best Middleweight in the Region. He is the current Reality Fighting Middleweight Champ, and he will be defending his belt against Domenic Gagliardi (6-1). Vaca has wins over names like Jeff Nader, DoomsDay Howard, and Robbie Roberts. His submission game is on another level than the rest of the Middleweights, and every moment he is in the cage there is a possibility of a submission.
Because he has had almost all of his fights in Virginia (according to match maker Joe Cuff) where most of his fights went unsanctioned and unregistered, Gagliardi has flown largely under our radar. He beat undefeated Mark McLaughlin back in May of last year. He was scheduled to fight Jimmy Quinlan back in the fall but that fight fell through. (Gee, there’s a surprise!) So now he has the privilege of facing one of the best 185ers in the area.

Ever since Reality Fighting moved into Mohegan Sun they have separated themselves from the rest of the NorthEast MMA pack. They regularly put more than 4,000 fans in the seats, and their last show had nearly 5,500 in paid attendance. The huge crowd coupled with the World Class arena makes Reality the biggest show in New England. Black Belt TV will be airing this show live. Actually it was Quinlan who pulled out of the fight with Gagliardi. They were suppose to fight in October and who won would fight Moreno for the title. Nobody wanted to fight Moreno so gagliard stepped up.
