I notice the Cage Titan website has the Fernanda Araujo vs Peggy Morgan fight on their card, as does Combat Zone. Anyone know where they are actually fighting?
Also, does anyone know anything about Team Trifecta? I just hadn’t heard of them before, and I used to roll with one of their fighters on this card.
Nevermind on the Araujo vs Morgan fight. I should have read the Mass SNAFU article first. Still curious about Trifecta, though.
I saw Luis backed out, is Jimmy fighting?
New main event…. Jimbo Slice vs Barrington Douse!!
All fighters made weight and yes, we did have a last minute pull-out so Jimmy Davidson will be taking on Barrington Douse in a non-title fight. Luis Felix was injured Wednesday night and tried to tough it out but gave word this morning at 10am that he couldn’t fight.
After contacting Jimmy and him posting the disappointment on facebook, a half hour later my phone rang from a number I didn’t have saved and the conversation pretty much went like this…
Me – Hello
Douse – I’ll take it!
Me – Who’s this?
Douse – Rude Boy!
Me – What are you talking about?
Douse – You know what!
Me – Jimmy Davidson?
Douse – Yeah, I want it…It takes me 2 hours to get there from Springfield, I’m on my way.
There is a bit more to the story about all the hoops we had to jump through to pull it off but for now, I will leave it at that.
Can’t wait to tomorrow night…And look forward to seeing you all there!
Much respect to Douse for stepping in on short notice!
Unfortunately I will not be fighting tonight due to an injury. I’m sorry I let everyone down. I’d like to apologize to Jimmy Davidson and his friends and family, Cage Titans and everyone involved in putting this event together. Glad to see barrington got in there, I owe you one bro
Congratulations Lucas Cruz, he will be a force at pro 155 this year!
I thought Mass state commission required 1 week fight card notice meaning you couldnt find replacements last minute like this? This was one of the MANY rules why I do not attend or support Mass MMA fighting anymore which includes buying tickets or telling people about any fights but if what “cagetitans” is saying is true, I would be interested in the details of this. Excuse my ignorance if my information is wrong but its been a while since I have followed anything local for MMA ever since the commission got involved. If they have changed the rules since then, I MAY be interested in getting back into the local scene.
Lucas will be a force at 145 not 155. And he’s next fight is already booked against Frank Sforza at CFX for the title in March.
K Kline-
How can you not support Massachusetts MMA because of the Commission? The hard work put in by the fighters, promoters and everyone else involved deserve your respect, regardless of the bureaucrats. The fights are as good as ever, just so you know. They didn’t all of a sudden stop being watchable when the Commission started up.
Awesome fights last night. Congrats to Fleming & Sloppy on the W
KKline, who gives a fuck if you MAY be interested again, why should anyone care what you are/are not interested in?
^ And that right there is the problem with MMA and the attitudes some carry. Maybe Kline is a fan that has been turned off by some practices in the sport, that’s you should care.
why should he care about what kline thinks…he doesnt FOLLOW mass fights at all?? then he is not a real fan…fuck him…what about the fighters, promoters etc etc etc…his attitude is what is wrong with mma MDR
Ring Boy- To be honest, I never have seen a fight under the commission here in MA because of a few certain rule changes that I thought were going to hurt the sport here in this state, which they did. Im sure the quality of the fights are just as good as before. I remember a whole bunch of bogus rules being proposed and passed that rubbed me the wrong way and alot of other fans and fighters. I didnt see how one could create a full fight card, one of the reasons was because they did have a rule fight cards had to be submitted 7 days prior to fight night and they couldnt be changed within that 7 days causing many dropped fights. Just was shocked the commission allowed a last minute fighter like this as last I checked was against the rules. Does such a rule still exist and thats why strings had to be pulled to make this fight work? Also, they were discussing double weigh ins and only allowing fighters to put on a certain amount of weight per weight class. Just was alot of BS going on at the time that disgusted me so I walked. Doesnt mean I didnt respect or support fighters anymore, just didnt want to be part of anything local anymore. At the time, I guess you could say I was doing my small part in not financially supporting this state or the commission during the “protest” not that anyone had much of a choice of the commission being involved. Like I said though, if the the rules have changed, id be interested in supporting the local fight scene again. Just was looking for some more information on the last minute fighter change details.
KKlineisgay- stop hiding behind fake names and names of such that we thought were arguably funny back in middle school and I may have an answer for you.
Anonymous- I follow MA fights. If I didnt, I never would of been here. I just dont support local events. I give credit to cage titans, cfx, etc. in putting together fight cards under much more strict rules, I just dont want to be part of it, mostly because I refuse to financially support this state and the commission. I think its a joke and they single handedly almost ruined mma in this state. I now make the trip to CT to follow reality fighting and support massachusetts fighters there.
Wasnt here to start any crap guys. Just was curious about the details of the replacement and if such rules are still in place. Nothing more, nothing less.
Shut up you sound like a douche, and your gay
There are 3 levels of being a cowrard. First Level are the people who get on the internet using their real name but dont have the balls to say it in person. Next level are the people who use fake names to hide behind because they are to scared to have an opinion as themselves. And the worst level is someone who not only have opinions behind fake names, but they add personal insult not even relevant to the discussion. Guess what level you are? I’d rather be a douche and gay over being a coward and having the mentality of a socially unnaccepted 4th grader like yourself. When your ready to man up, a simple google search will provide you more than enough information to take your insults to my face. But I’ve dealt with people like you before… Never make it up the steps out if your moms basement to do so. Troll status
Kkline, some of the early, more ridiculous rules have been significantly reformed. In fact, I’m not sure they were ever put into effect before changing (Old School, do you know if they were used?). If you want to get to know the local MMA game again, there is plenty of high-quality stuff in all of the New England states. Of course there is bureaucracy and that stinks, but please don’t hold the fighters, promoters, and sellers accountable for the Commission.
the commission sucks but when u boycott all mass events u are hurting guys like polvere who work his ass off to do these chows, but to each his own I guess…it is def a legit question of how in the hell he pulled this fight off lol
Kkline havent heard from you in a while, i know the commision peeps lurk on these threads so hopefully they will realize they need to step things up a bit, also Mike TPS does make a point Polvere is one of the good guys and works hard !! The show Sat nite was awesome !!
Kkline, thanks for the comment and in regards to those two particular rules you mentioned..The double weigh-in one was never passed as far as I know and the fight card rule is that it must be submitted 10 days prior to the date of the show, which is a set rule.
The latter one I will get in to…My personal opinion is that the rule made sense when the commission took over as they were trying to err on the side of caution and didn’t fully understand all that went in to putting on a MMA show. To them, why wouldn’t you know who was fighting who 10 days out from a show!? Now that they have been around for a while they understand that injuries and such happen a ton in this sport and this particular rule has been and can be bent a little bit. That is not to say it will be approved EVERY time, but as a promoter I have the option to propose it to the commission and they can make a judgment call and/or vote on allowing the fight to happen.
In the particular case of Barrington, at first they were not fully on board with it due to them not thinking it was going to be a competitive fight since Barrington was fighting at 155. After that, a few phone calls from both Jimmy Davidson and Barrington Douse’s coaches were made to the commission office, as well as us assuring them that Barrington was actually going to be weighing in at 158, and they approved the fight…Even still they were a bit hesitant and split on the decision since this all happen 2 hours before the weigh-in. (Maybe they felt bad due to the other licensing issue and figured they owed me one! lol)
Hope this helps…
