The fighting Cardarelli’s
From Old School
Mike Polvere, Shelly the Waitress, and the rest of the Cage Titans crew will once again descend on the homeland of America when they all return to Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, MA on January 28th for their first event of 2012, Cage Titans Invasion. The Main Card is a blend of some of the area’s most exciting MMA Pro fighters, including Jimbo Slice Davidson, RockStar Felix, Chip Pollard, and Sloppy Joe Lamoureux. But a scroll down the fight card will reveal two unknown fighters with the same last name; Mark and Remo Cardarelli. (While it is rare, it is not unheard of that two brothers will fight on the same card.) Mark and Remo are two fighters training out of USMMA in Bellingham, MA. Mark is quite a bit older than Remo, though, because Mark is his dad!
I recently spoke to coach Matt Martin of USMMA. “These two guys came in a few years ago to get in shape. They are absolutely great to have around; there’s nothing that they won’t do for the gym; help anyone or do anything,” he said.
Mark, the Dad, is a 39 year old former high school wrestler who will be facing Dave Espino (Team Trifecta) at 150lb Catchweight in his Amateur debut. “Dave is a real tough SOB,” says Matt. “He’s real green, very inexperienced, and his skill set is not really the best, but he has heart for days! This guy just never gives up. He’s 1-1 in smokers, and each fight was a war!” Mark walks at 150lb to 154lb, but the 150 lb weight was agreed to for his debut fight. The coach sees him moving down in weight should he continue to move on in the fight game. “He’s absolutely great to watch compete and he just never gives up!”
Remo, the Son, is a completely different story. He walks around under 125lb; the real challenge is to keep weight on him. (His debut fight on the card will be at 125lb against another rookie Jessie Pires.) He is still 17 years old; he turns 18 a few days before the fight. “He has no high school wrestling experience,” says Matt. “They don’t have it where he goes to school. (He still goes to school!) This kid is an absolute pleasure to train with. He is athletic as all get-out. He’s all about finesse and technique.” When asked whether Remo prefers the ground game or the stand up, the answer was a definite yes! “This kid will knock you out standing or submit you on the ground. He may not be the real deal yet, but he’s gonna be,” Matt said. “Because he has no karate or wrestling background, he is a true Mixed Martial Artist.”
Cage Titans Invasion is gonna have it all; heart, determination, grit, courage, athleticism, youth, and experience. And the Cardarelli boys are sure to provide most of it…
Fighting has never been this cool!

Nobody trains harder than these 2 guys. Both have the heart of a fighter and that can’t be taught. I know the’ll give the crowd what they want in there fight debut.
HAHAHAHA well said OM , well said !!

YAH BUDDYY! i cant wait. these two are great people to train with. Mark is the toughest guy i have ever meet, and Remo on the other hand, here’s some advise… dont stand with him and dont take him to the ground!
These guys always help me get ready for fights! Team players and hardworkers…and both father and son are great friends to be around
I have two beautiful kids that make my job as a parent look easy. Remo is a product of his environment. He surrounds himself with great people. He is well respected by all of those that truly know him.
We are extremely blessed to be part of the USMMA Team. From the owner (Tom Hafers), the trainers like Matt Martin and Rolando Griffin, the pro fighters like Joe McGann, Jim Pitner and Kevin Corrigan and the countless teammates like Matty LaRose, Andre, Grant, Tara and Hillary.
A Million Thanks to All that have helped along the way.
To think of one word to describe USMMA “Integrity”.
The ability to articulate so one can properly learn is an Art USMMA has mastered!
“Boys It’s GO Time!!!”
Tom Hafers is a very good coach and all around great guy !
