Calloway Cup 4-quick results

bycolinv ~ November 18th, 2006

Before I post the results, I have to commend the guys at WFL. This show was awesome! By far my favorite Calloway Cup. With the two superfights mixed in, it really added some excitement to the event. As usual the place was packed and the event went off without a hitch.

Jeff Moore vs. Izaias Nacimento-Fight did not happen. Izaias was sick at the weigh-in.

Glenn Allaine vs. Jonatas Lopes-Allaine won by armbar in round 1

Daron Adams vs. Jamie Fellows-Daron won by very quick KO (less than 20 seconds)

Hector Vasques vs. Chandler Holderness-Holderness by RNC in round 1

Hector Diaz vs. Sean Ratcliffe-Sean By TKO in round 2. Hector did not come out to Justin Timberlake and dance like a stripper this time. Not saying that’s why he lost, but if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

Anthony Leate vs. Geovanni Sontay-TKO early in round 1

Mat Santos vs. Everilton “Soneca” Silva-Soneca by decision-it was read a split decision, but the ring announcer announced the first two scores for Soneca, so I’m not sure if he messed up calling it a split decision or if he messed up the order in which he read the cards. Either way, Soneca won.

James Lockhart vs. Andrew Amaral-Andrew won by submission from strikes

Daven Wesinger vs. Daniel Duarte-Daven won by RNC

Phil McIntyre vs. David Pasquarelli-Phil by TKO in round one. He looked like a friggin beast and I hope he fights for a title at whatever weight he’s at.

Derek Ward vs. Jarrod Palmer-Jarrod by late TKO. This was the fight of the night and an absolute war. Both guys landed a ton of strikes and Jarrod was bloodied up, but seemed to like it. Also, he got rid of his Evan Tanner pony tail type hair style. I was disappointed. Again, if it’s not broken…

Jay Viola vs. Aguilano Brandao-Brandao by arm bar

Ricardo Funch vs. Calvin Bates-Ricardo by RNC

Tom Valanzola vs. Thiago Da Costa-This one was a bit confusing. In round 1 Thiago had a point taken away after several warnings for hitting to the back of the head. The fight was ruled a draw and Thiago won by TKO in OT. After the fighters left the ring, the person at ringside who’s sole responsibility it is to total the scores some how messed up. Thiago won round 1, 10-9 and Tom won round 2, 10-9, but due to the point deduction, Tom won via UD 19-18. The fight never should have gone to OT, so the TKO in OT doesn’t count. In case you’re confused, all you need to know is Tom by UD.

Lance Everson vs. Jason Delucia-Lance by submission from strikes in round 1. It looked like the last Hughes vs. Penn fight. He trapped both arms and hit him a million times with short punches.
