    The rankings look good!

I see a lot of good 155s on there and it would be nice to have one fight unranked John Ortolani 5-2 on July 29th at Combat Zone.

  2. Rick on June 2nd, 2011 1:12 PM

orto should have been listed originally…my fault.

  3. Matt Bessette on June 2nd, 2011 3:01 PM

I knew about these rankings a month after my first fight and it’s really cool to see the progression of the fighters on the list now! Big ups to everyone ranked or HM! It’s a pleasure beating ass with all you beasts!

  4. Old School on June 2nd, 2011 3:05 PM

Rick, you do a great deal of research an painstaking detail for these rankings. I learn something every time we talk or hang together. I can honestly say that you have forgotten more than most people know. Great job once again!

  5. Reep on June 2nd, 2011 3:25 PM

Great job on the rankings guys!! Some of the divisions are soooo stacked, and most could beat most on any given day!! Now the match makers need to get these guys fighting each other!!

  6. Old School on June 2nd, 2011 3:37 PM

I agree, Reeper. I really like the Lauzon/Weisman match later this month. We’ll see the #1 155er vs. the #9 in that same division and I really like Noah’s chances there. Remember the Benoit/Bessette fight…not a lot of people gave Matt much of a chance. Thats why we have rankings and thats why we compete!

Later this month we’ll have the Ammy Rankings updated, and I know you’ll be there, Reep. I’m really looking forward to working on those rankings as well.

On a side note, Reeper, the fishing’s great right now and the invite is still there. The weather is here, wish you were beautiful…

  8. om on June 2nd, 2011 5:29 PM

old school lets bet 500 pushups…i will go with lauzon

  9. Old School on June 2nd, 2011 7:33 PM

    OM,
I like your style… I didn’t say I think Noah would win, I just said I like his chances. But, I do like pushups! 500 is a lot. If I take Noah and my man loses, which hand do I have to do the pushups with?

    any word on ameture rankings?

  13. Reep on June 2nd, 2011 9:58 PM

Thanks Denny, looking forward to the ammy rankings for sure! Wish I could get down there, I miss the Cape!! Right now I’m working 6 days a week, till the end of June. Then I’ll be fighting July 30 for PFC 6!!! So between training and work, no time for travel.

Rockstar, what’s up with Team Glaucoma? How did you all come together, and where does the name come from? bunch a beasts!

  14. M. Giove on June 3rd, 2011 9:33 AM

hey, i just wanted to congradulate paul barry on his recent slim-fast diet. he’s on his way to 125 and he is gonna be a beast.

  15. Rick on June 3rd, 2011 9:45 AM

Yeah…not sure how that happened. I had to look at the rankings again to get the joke, Giove. Rankings are such a pain in the ass, and I have no idea how we ended up with Paul at 205 lol. Several spreadsheets, and several cut and paste jobs and next thing you know Paul ends up in the wrong weight class. I’ll have to fix it later. Is he still fighting?

  16. M. Giove on June 3rd, 2011 10:23 AM

just bustin balls rick. the man is not fighting anymore, though. i believe he may be scared of his wife:) too bad though, one of the best fighters i’ve seen and one of the trully good guys. good job on the rankings…btw, can we get a top 150 for each class…i know i’m almost scratchin at the door.

  17. Old School on June 3rd, 2011 11:10 AM

I’ll take credit/blame for the Paul Barry thing…If there is a thing. I saw that Paul had several wins against 205 guys here in New England, including Steve Skrzat (who is a ranked fighter at 205). I also had one source listing him as a light Heavy. His record is 3-1, with his only loss coming against Stipe Miocic, a 5-0 fighter out of Ohio. Paul Barry had two fights in 2010, which means that he may still be active, and inactivity should remove a fighter from the rankings, not word of a retirement. I probably should have had him as the Heavyweight, though. My bad…Thanks, Mark, for pointing that out, because without quality input (with a good sense of humor) we would never get anywhere!

  18. Haddad on June 3rd, 2011 4:01 PM

Congratulations to Bessette, McLaughlin, & Quinn for moving up in rankings! Parker, congratulations for retaining the number 1 ranking! I hope to see Oz in the rankings later on the year. Watch out for Nick Newell. Not to add to the mix, Vincent Ramirez just moved up here from NC. He was a 2x DI national qualifier. He will be making some noise at 145 in the coming months, as well!

On another note, I am excited to be competing against my friend McLoughlin in October at Reality Fighting. I cannot wait to go to war, and yes…winner buys beer! Hopefully, by the end end of the year, I can be ranked among all my close friends! Train hard and enjoy life!

  19. JoDechaves on June 3rd, 2011 4:26 PM

Nice Job Rick, This is one of the hardest things there is to rank a bunch of fighters who arent in the UFC. Ill be back in the cage soon, and this next ranking I plan on being up in the mix. Congrats to all who moved up.

  20. Matt Bessette on June 3rd, 2011 5:13 PM

JDC – You ARE in the mix dude. Just because you aren’t top 10, yet, doesn’t mean you’re out of the mix. You are very much in the mix sir.

  21. Scary Nickname on June 3rd, 2011 9:12 PM

Aw man, the stage is set for some pretty epic battles this yes!

Some fights I’d love to see:

    Bessette Vs Lauzon
    Chip Morazza-Pollard Vs Paddy Thompson
    Woody Weatherby Vs Gladiator Santos
    Vaca Vs Nate Kittredge
    Oz Parisier Vs Damien Trites

I’d also love a fight with Nate kittredge too. He def brings it every second of every fight.

Also looking forward to Parker Porter Vs Gonzaga

  22. RAMBO on June 4th, 2011 6:50 AM

Some big fights are on the Combat Zone Card for July 29th, check out the web sight…Dan Keefe is listed at 170 ..look out for him if he stays in that weight class!

  23. EmmE on June 4th, 2011 8:04 AM

Why did Jeff Nader lose two fights and keep his ranking at 9?

  24. Old School on June 4th, 2011 8:05 AM

    To Rambo,
Right you are…the Combat zone has several interesting fights on that card. The month of June has several real nice fight cards with top ten fighters and other fights that have implications on the rankings. Keep posted, as next week I’ll be putting up a few articles regarding those fight cards.

    To OM,
On that pushup/Lauzon/Weisman thing, here’s my counter offer: I take Weisman and you take Lauzon. If Lauzon wins, I’ll have to do my age in dips on the dip bar. When Weisman wins, you have to do your age in pushups! (And remember, I’m old enough to be Mike Gresh’s big brother.) Are we on?

    To Bessette,
“The weather is here, wish you were beautiful” comment was meant for Reep, not you. We all know that you are beautiful…

  25. Old School on June 4th, 2011 8:13 AM

    EmmE,
Jeff Nader lost a close split decision to Todd Chattelle (the #5 ranked fighter) and a submission loss to Vaca Moreno (the # 2 ranked fighter). Nader also wants to fight Kittredge (the #1 ranked). RankMaster Rick Caldwell feels very strongly about fighters who choose to take tough fights, and remember, Rick has forgotten more than you and I know on the topic. Plus, Nader has won several “Most Handsome Corner” awards in the past year…

  26. om on June 4th, 2011 12:31 PM

old school we are on…that means i do 61 push ups…in my prime i was called the dip master…i have a dip bar and chin up bar built into my great room…rick is correct about taking tough fights only gets one ready for next level…good luck to the local guys fighting tonight in vegas…i love watching local fighters develop…now its back to planting my garden

  27. Old School on June 4th, 2011 1:28 PM

So, OM, Dip Master, or what ever you prefer to go by, it’s on! Can I infer from your last comment that you are going to provide the facility in which we settle up on our little wager? I assume the dip bar will not be needed for the occasion!
    Best of luck,
    Old School

  28. om on June 4th, 2011 2:38 PM

    lol

  29. Loco Lobo on June 4th, 2011 3:41 PM

Old School is much older than me ! LOL

  30. Mark Daniels on June 11th, 2011 5:55 PM

Marc Stevens should be back in the rankings if Anthony Leone is.
