Dan Bonnell previews Combat Zone 33-UFC Veterans, along with Calvin Kattar are set to take Bike Week by storm.

Combat Zone 33

At The Meadowbrook

Gilford, NH

“BIKE WEEK”

With the combination of a great venue, Bike Week going on in town and Ticket prices range from $90 front row to $25 seats! This show is bound to sell out.

Featured Fights:

Main Event

Calvin Kattar 9-2 (Wai Kru) vs Chris Conner 5-2 pro 11-3 am (Virginia)

Weight: 155lbs

Chris Conner has a record that speaks for its self. Over 20 fights total in his career already, almost all his wins have come by stoppage due to strikes. The Virginia Native is the younger brother of Robert Conner 7-1 (Team Coalition) Robert fought on CZ32 against Tom Moreau and lost a dec. Chris is a young kid that likes to stand and trade, thus far, it seems to be working for him.

Calvin is representing Wai Kru, His 3rd team in as many months. I don’t know why Calvin has had trouble buckling down to one team but it seems every time he fights its under a different banner. Non the less, Calvin is one of the area’s most talented fighters. Kattar has never lost in Combat Zone and most would say he considers it his home turf. I think this is just the type of fight Calvin is looking for. Kattar like Conner likes to keep the fight standing, although not many have been able to keep with his pace. I’d have to say Calvin has the edge on the ground for sure but Kattar is the type of kid that wants to beat you where your best.

Josh Hendricks 16-6 (Evolve MMA) vs Jessie McElligott 3-0 pro (Conners)

Weight: 215lbs

UFC and King of the Cage Veteran Josh Hendricks bring’s a very impressive resume of 16 wins all in the first round. Nicknamed “Heavy”, I assure you it is not referring to his waist but his hands. The one time UFC Fighter has fought notables, Travis Wiuff, Gabe Gonzaga, Chris Tuchscherer, and Sam Hoger.

Coming off 6 straight wins including 3 at amateur the still 19 year old Teenager Jessie McElligot takes a huge step up in competition as a last minute replacement for Carlos Lovato. With Just one week notice Jessie looks to catapult his career to another level with a big win over Hendricks. Jessie Recently took out Randy “The Savage” Rowe at Triumph 2 weeks ago in a first round TKO Stoppage.

Brent Kinberger 5-2 pro 9-2 am (MFS-NH) vs Nuri Shakir 13-16 (ELITE)

Weight: 170

Great Fight! These two are both highly respected veterans in the area with over 40 Fights between the two combined. Both Shakir and Kinberger need a win here. Neither fighter has had an easy fight in years and that comes with the territory of being a great fighter with a lot of fights. Minus a height advantage for Kinberger this fight is even no matter where it goes. Both guys have great hands and look good on the feet.

Kinberger holds a Brown belt in BJJ under Renato Taveras out of Kentucky his home state. Brent stands 6’2” and should tower over Nuri giving him hell from the outside.

Brent has been in some wars recently with the likes of BJJ black belt Magno Almeida and Brown Belt Chandler Holderness.

Shakir is an original member of THE team Elite out of Massachusetts. Training with the likes of Bjj black belt Doug Collenda, UFC Veteran Keith Rockwell, Jorge Rivera, and Matt Lee and the list goes on. Nuri is just slick as hell on the ground and possesses some great Judo throws. He’s a Black belt in Small Circle Jiu Jitsu under Ed Melaugh and has fought over 12 UFC Veterans.

Luiz Rodrigues 2-0 (Sityodtong) vs Jeff Anderson 5-1 (Elite MMA)

Weight: 155

Luiz is a former Amateur 155lb champion from Virgina, now transferred to Sityodtong and fighting as a pro under Kru Mark Dellagrotte, Sky is the limit for this kid. Luiz is a purple belt in BJJ and has some very good Muay Thai. A tall and slender 155 but Luiz is no joke when he gets started. He’s a quick finisher.

Jeff Anderson is the former I.C.E. MMA 155lb Champ. Recently Jeff suffered the first loss of his career to Calvin Kattar. Prior to that Jeff was tearing through everyone he fought. Coming in off a loss Jeff will look to put Luiz away and regain that feeling of wining again. This should be another great fight standing, both guys have Muay Thai experience and will look very sharp.

Pat “The Real Deal” McGreal 5-0 (Bombsquad)

Vs

Bobby ‘The Believer’ Reardanz 4-3 (David and Goliath FS)

Weight: 155

Battle of the Nicknames definitely goes to McGreal and I may have to take him in this fight as well. Pat comes in at 5-0 yet to taste defeat but hasn’t seen any MMA action in about 2 years. Pat was on a tear when he was active. Last we saw him he was on the giving end of a spinning back fist KO against Barrington Douse down in Mohegan Sun. Since then Pat has taken some time off and working on making his way back down to his original 145lb weight class.

I don’t know much about Bobby Reardanz besides that he was 6-1 as an amateur and lost his fights due to TKO or KO and won all his fights by submission. That being the case he might be in trouble because McGreal can pack a punch and with the team he’s training with im sure he has had his share of sub defense.

Travis Clarke 6-0 (Evolve MMA) vs Jason Bonacorsi 0-0 (NE fight and fitness)

Weight : 205lbs

Amateur Fights

Will Santiago 2-0 (American Top Team) vs Lowell Zangri 2-0 (Valor)

Weight: 185lbs

Taylor Trayhan 4-3 (AGA) vs Al Jarmain Sterling 1-1 (Bombsquad)

Weight:145lbs

Ivan Sanchez 0-0 (American Top Team) vs Tommy Teixira 0-0 (Clinch MMA)

Weight: 155lbs

Nick Olson 1-0 (Gracie Barra NH) vs Rob Goodwin 0-0 (Guy Chase)

Weight: 185lbs

Jamie Courtney 1-1 (Fury) vs RJ Letendre 1-0 (Seacoast)

Weight: 155lbs

Jake Deignan 1-0 (Gracie Barra NH) vs Heath England 1-0 (LRVT)

Weight: 135lbs

Bob Burton 1-0 (ATT) vs Garrett Morrow 0-1 (Pisbull)

Weight: 205lbs

Jason Feliciano 0-0 (Seacoast) vs Ryan Plummer (Guy Chase)

Weight: 175lbs

John Santos 2-3 (Fury) vs AJ Campbell 0-1 (White Mt. BJJ)

Weight: 150lbs

Dave George brings Combat Zone to one of the most popular places to be this weekend. Laconia, NH hosts the largest outdoor bike rally and event for a solid week in mid June each year. Over 2 million hopefuls come from all over the country to see bikes, ride bikes, buy bikes, you name it!

Combat Zone 33 Takes place at the Meadowbrook in Gilford NH. The Meadowbrook is an outdoor Venue that is custom to holding many Huge concerts. Like the Tweeter Center aka, Great woods aka, whatever the hell it is now, it is covered from the weather for a majority of the seats. I want to personally thank and apologize to everyone involved with the last couple of shows for me. I certainly haven’t been myself for obvious reasons, but with the support and acceptance from everyone involved, I’ve been able to do these last couple of fights and pay some bills. Don’t let this statement detract from Nuri’s performance tonight, he trained hard and did his job, pounding out a great win. I especially want to thank Nuri for the fight, and Dave George for allowing me to do it. Also, the guys at Sucker Punch Athletics who proved once again that they really support us as fighters win or lose and have true stand up values and great designs and products. I consider all of you in the MMA community friends, and have had nothing but positive experiences since I moved here 4 years ago. Ed Carr and everyone at Miletich-NH are a great 2nd family and I thank you too…
