Recently the ABC MMA Training committee extensively researched training courses that were being provided by various individuals, and approved a small list of training courses. One of our own local referees was one of them. Basically, what that means is that Kevin MacDonald’s referee training course was reviewed by the MMA experts and was recognized and approved as one of the very best in the industry. So now, when you hear that Kevin MacDonald runs a great referee training course, it’s not just the opinion of local MMA guys…Kevin’s course has the full backing of the ABC MMA Training Committee, and it really doesn’t get any bigger than that. Thank you for all your hard work, Kevin. All of us in the North East sincerely appreciate all of your efforts, and look forward to the new referees that come out of your program.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The MMA Officials and Training Committee held a phone conference meeting on Thursday, May 27, 2010.
This meeting was scheduled after:
1- guidelines for training material were prepared,
2- notice was properly distributed to interested parties and the media,
3- received course work was initially reviewed by Nick Lembo, (NJ) Andy Foster(GA), and Bernie Profato, (OH) during a phone conference and a summary of our recommendations was released to the full Committee,
4- all received course work was distributed to the Committee.
The full Committee, on May 27, voted to adopt recommendations of the subcommittee and approve the following training course programs:
Herb Dean – both Referee and Judge
Marc Fennell – Referee
Nelson Hamilton – both Referee and Judge
Robert Hinds – both Referee and Judge
Kevin MacDonald – Referee
John McCarthy – both Referee and Judge
In the past year, Profato, Foster and Lembo met to discuss and review the individuals who applied to be recognized as ABC MMA Officials approved trainers.
The dedicated members not only reviewed the materials, but also attended some courses, sent individuals to various courses, viewed course videotapes, spoke to the trainers and visited their websites.
