South Shore Sport Fighting unbeaten at AFO

byRick ~ April 27th, 2010

Mark Daniels recently posted this write up of AFO’s latest event:

Massachusetts’ second sanctioned show under the newly formed athletic commission – American Fighting Organization’s Night of Champions – went off without a hitch Saturday in Plymouth.

It also was a good night for South Shore Sport Fighting. The Rockland-based gym was 3-0 at the Plymouth show, with victories for Mike Polvere, Tom Giove and Lee Metcalf.

“It was definitely a good night,” SSSF trainer Scott Lockhart said. “We try to stay pretty active. We basically have no lives, so we pretty much put it (all) into this.”

Polvere, a featherweight, had an entertaining pro debut against Theo Dejardin. Polvere threw some wild punches to begin the fight before punishing Dejardin with elbows from the top position. Round 2 featured more of the same, as Polvere’s brutal ground-and-pound game forced the referee to halt the action at 1:51.
