TRIUMPH PROMOTIONS PRESS RELEASE
Triumph Promotions is owned by John Fain (Gracie Barra NH) and Tom Cortese. Our only promise is to match great fights at an outstanding venue.
For 2010, we have scheduled five shows at the Hampshire Dome in Milford, NH. Our first event, Supremacy, will take place on March 27th.
Featured Fights
Dennis Olson vs Nuri Shakir
This fight has been two years in the making. There is no love lost between these two as each camp has accused the other of ducking the fight. Nuri is very motivated to knock off his cross-town rival. He brings the skills and experience to succeed where each of Olson’s welterweight opponents failed. Olson looks to follow in the footsteps of 12 fighters to previously face Nuri before landing in the UFC.
Nate LaMotte vs Davin Wesinger
Both fighters bring an aggressive style that is bound to result in fireworks. Davin’s only losses have been to accomplished submission specialists. Nate should be the bigger of the two and will look to impose his will. Expect aggressive striking and a technical ground war.
Woody Weatherby vs Jerry Spiegel
This fight is much more difficult to predict than the fighters’ records indicate. Jerry continually fights the best fighters New England has to offer. He pushed one of Woody’s training partners and highly regarded fighter, Greg Rebello, to a decision last June. Woody will look to avoid his first losing streak with his improved striking and excellent ground game.
Our full fight card will be released shortly.

I AM LOOKING FOR A FIGHT I CAN FIGHT FROM 135 TO 155 HOLLA AT ME ALL FIGHT ANYBODY IN MASS NOBODY IMPRESSES ME OUT HERE HOLLA AT THE KID WE CAN DO IT IN A BASEMENT
Dennis just defeated Mike Dolce in Atlantic City to become the New Breed Fighters welterweight champion. He out-struck Dolce and dominated him on the ground.
WOW…Great win for Dennis!
Cant wait for this fight! I hope all parties envolved are training hard and coming ready, I know I will be! We will see what the night brings. No matter what goes down the crowd will be getting there moneys worth, and will leave very pleased.
Nuri v. Olson this should be a fun fight!
Nuri better get ready quick and pray for a miracle because dennis is comin like a bat out of hell
Very cool fight, Dennis has been on a tear latley
I think Dennis is a great fighter but I don’t understand how a win over Mike Dolce is big. Mike is 1-9 in his last 10 official fights. He has a reputation of being heavy handed but his record doesn’t support this. He has 2 or 3 stoppages depending if you count his time on Ultimate Fighter. Mike beat Nuri at WCF which makes me ask, why Dennis is now fighting Nuri instead of another top welterweight? For that matter why is Nate fighting Davin instead of a top 10 guy? Rick Hawn and Tom Moreau just had big wins over top 10 ranked mid-atlantic state fighters. We need to get the top guys together.
By the way for some reason Dan Bonnell’s picture is on Dennis’ Sherdog page.
MLenfest, I hear you. I want to see the best fight each other also. This however is easier said than done. There are a lot of good promotions out there and most of them have their favorite fighters. With each promotion using good guys, it is difficult and very rare to see the top guys go at it.
To think Nuri and Dennis is not a big fight is crazy. I don’t care what Nuri’s record is, he is as tough and skilled as they come. He has been fighting for a decade and is only 30 years old. I cannot think of another fighter with a list of opponents like his. It is hard to maintain a winning record when you fight guys like that.
Rumor has it that Nuri is training extremely hard for this fight. He has a gym in Nashua, Dennis trains in Nashua and there is no way he will go into this fight unprepared and risk losing to a compeitor that close.
Also don’t count Davin out. He is a very tough kid with losses to top guys. This fight was matched, neither Nate or Davin asked for it.
John,
I have nothing but respect for Nuri and never said anything about his record or his training. Nuri has a very impressive list of opponents and has traveled for several of those fights as well. It just seems odd the Dennis who beat John Manley and Ryan Scheiding to end last year would be fighting Mike Dolce and then the one guy Mike beat lately.
As for Davin I’m sure he’s a tough kid anyone who gets in the ring or cage has my respect. However Davin has lost to top 155 pounders not top 170 pounders like Nate. Davin has also 1-3 in his last 4 not what I’d expect for Nate. I don’t understand your comment about this fight being matched, I would think a matchmaker would look for a transition opponent for Davin if he is going to 170 and would also look for a top guy for a Nate matchup that would sell tickets.
to MLenfest,
Perception is reality. Wether you want to agree or not Mike Dolce is a name and a much bigger name than Ryan Sheilding or John Manley. although, both those guys may be able to beat Dolce as well….doesnt matter. The UFC hype machine “TUF” has built some of these no name fighters to become a house hold name so that even my mom knows who guys like Junie Browning and Mike Dolce are. With that, they instantly are popular to the people who watch them and pay to see them, maybe not to the real MMA followers like yourself but we are not the demografic the UFC is trying to appeal to but rather the people sitting at home on their couch being an armchair MMA fighter.
Dennis’ win over Dolce holds much more water than his win over previous opponents and a win over Nuri will do the same.
MMA Fan: ” oh wow, that local kid just beat Mike Dolce from the ultimate fighter show”
Tell me those words weren’t heard that night by at least 100 people in Atlantic City that night.
Thats all it takes. Look at Seth Petruzelli, he sucks…..but he’s awesome now that he was the first man to stop Kimbo in a MMA fight.
Dan,
Thanks for the input. Your right preception does become reality. That being said, good for Dennis, I hope the name recognition gets him to the next level.
MLenfest,
Nate’s original opponent was Rick Hawn. I was excited for that fight but I’m more excited for the big things in Rick’s future.
John,
That makes sense. Nate or Dennis against Rick would have been a huge fight for the local MMA scene. Rick has some really great people working with him right now and has a huge opportunity with the upcoming Shine card. If Rick beats Estima that will definitely put him on a new level.
Seeing Dennis tearing up the local top 10 just made me want to see more top local matchups before we lose guys, like Dennis, Rick, Justin and Tom, to bigger promotions. But good for those guys if they can get matchups that get them the recognition to get where they want to be.
Best of luck with the show, hopefully I’ll be there to check it out.
Mark
Addition to the card:
Bill Jones 5-3 (Chaos) vs Lee Metcalf 4-3 (SSSF)
This should be a great one. They recently fought for GFL and the bout ended in what some are calling a controversial manner. Both are tough as hell and are willing to put it on the line again.
The back rows thought it was controversial cause they didnt see and hear what was going on and being said, ringside it wasnt controversial at all.But no point in debating it.They will settle it soon. But yeah two of the toughest 145ers around, the winner hopefully cracks the top 10.If it’s as exciting as the 1st one , you should all be sure and be at this fight.
Theres another huge fight with one of our guys(sss) stepping up to a great fighter but I’ll let John post it.
I can’t wait for Dennis to tear Nuri apart. He has no idea what the Menace has in store for him. Its going to be an exciting fight. You’re going to see the best Dennis Olson yet.
Wha-chou talkin bout Willys?
Olson has been on tear lately beating the likes of Schieding,Manley, and Dolce. Nuri is tough, but Olson is the best 170 in the area and I look for him to finish early.
Change to the card:
Woody Weatherby is now fighting Johnny Buck from North Carolina. Buck is 5-5 and is an absolute monster. Buck is an excellent wrestler that likes to throw hands
This will be an outstanding fight!
Is there going to be a preview for this show
It’ll be up tonight
