NE Grappling Challenge VIII is scheduled for Sunday September, 20 and is being held at Bridgewater State College in lovely Bridgewater, MA. Our last tournament was a big hit, with everyone in attendance getting a ton of matches. As always, we employ a double elimination format, so that even if you lose your first match of the day, you are guaranteed at least one more match in your division. On top of that, we also allow all competitors to do multiple divisions. So if you’re really a beginner, but want to give intermediate a shot, but don’t want to miss out on your “real” division, we let you do both.

In addition to our Kids, Teens, and Adult divisions, we’re adding a Team Division to NE Grappling Challenge VII. The way this division works, is we bracket a whole team and you face off against another team. The weight classes are 145, 160, 175, 190, and 190+. Each team is allowed to enter 8 competitors in case of injuries. Each team will use 1 grappler per weight class in each round, and your 145er will grapple the other teams 145er…then 160 and so on. After the 5 matches are complete, whichever team has the most points moves on to the next round. The point system is pretty simple. If a match is won by decision/points, you earn your team 3 points. If you submit your opponent, you earn 5 points.

We continue in this format until there is one team left standing. The winning team takes home the grand prize of $1,000. The team competition does not cost extra to enter, so for the entrance fee of $60 (or $50 if you pre-register by September 13) you can enter the team competition, as well as multiple individual divisions. If you truly love to compete and want to get in a ton of matches, NE Grappling Challenge is a can’t miss.

Sean thanks buddy it was good seeing you at the tournament and you are welcome to come up with your son. I like competing in this tournament. I have had many good matches and yesterday was no exception and I know the next tournament BrickHouse will bring many more competitors. Also Sean is very sorry about suplexing one of the competitors yesterday he did not know that was an illegal move.
