Reality Fighting “Detonation” Preview

Reality Fighting “Detonation” is set to take place this Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Memorial Hall in Plymouth, MA. The card is headlined by two title fights, a 205 pound title fight between Fred Bellaton and Mike Stewart, as well as a 145 pound title fight between Mike Gresh and Josh LaBerge.

I looked Stewart up, and he’s fought on some big shows, and it looks like he appeared briefly on the UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter” Reality Show, losing to Krzysztof in the bout that would have earned him a spot in the house. It looks like he also beat a guy named Kevin Ferguson (Kimbo’s real name) as an amateur. I doubt it was the same guy, but found it interesting. He has a few wins by submission and a few by TKO, so he looks to be well rounded. He takes on an extremely tough kickboxer in Fred Bellaton. There aren’t many fighters in the world that can kick like Fred, and if he can keep the fight standing, I’m not sure there are any guys on the local scene that can hang with him.

Josh LaBerge has been on a tear as of late, beating Frank Latina, Chris Simmons and Dan Bonnell in 3 straight fights. All 3 guys had been ranked in the top 10 at one point, and three wins in a row over guys like that demands respect. Gresh is a stud, albeit a 46 year old stud, and he’s 4-1 overall with 4 straight wins. I hear from everyone who has every trained with him that he’s a beast. He’s got an edge in the technical aspects of the game, but LaBerge pushes the pace, and will have a pretty big size advantage. This one could go either way, but I don’t see it going past round 2. Josh will either push the pace and hurt Gresh enough to get it stopped, or he’ll push the pace a little too much and get KO’d or submitted.

I also notice that Sean Harrington is fighting as an amateur. If that’s the Sean Harrington I think it is, he’s an amazing wrestler and I’m excited to see him take his first fight.

Hats off to Josh Laberge. It was an honor to fight you. You have a huge future in this sport plus you’re a humble warrior. You earned that belt. Defend it well. I’ll be fighting soon after I return from the nursing home. lol To Joe Lauzon. Always an honor to see you in my opponent’s corner. You coached Josh well and we all had some fun in the corner. Had a great time, I love to fight.

I personally think Mike Could have easily won Rds. 1 & 3 witch is probably what the judge who had Lit winning 29-28 thought as well. I thought Chip won Rd. 2 I believe he hit Mike with a solid jab that hurt mike (if that’s possible). Reasons: I thought Mike landed more shots than Chip did. Mike was moving forward and was more aggressive throughout the fight. Though it did look like Chip threw more shots a lot of them were blocked or did not land. Hammer I think it would be hard to say Mike did not win a Rd. after seeing that one of the judges had him WINNING the fight and another gave him a Rd. The 3rd I believe had a 10-10 RD. 1 witch hardly ever happens. Chip is a beast and exciting to watch looking forward to watching him fight again!! Just my opinion I don’t want to go back and forth with you. Hammer you asked for an explanation I gave it to you!! See you at future shows!!
P.S. Gresh is the man for some reason I think everyone thinks he is more of a beast after the loss than he was before!! Either way he is the man, look forward to seeing him fight again soon.
