Greg Pomfred Reviews Reality Fighting Ferocity
Although the highly-anticipated showdown between Will Kerr and Rene Nazare was scrapped, Reality Fighting managed to put on a great show Saturday night. The Bantamweight title was defended in the main event and there were a ton of exciting fights and finishes.
145 lbs: Jimmy Collins (Kimura/Aggression) vs. Anthony King (Strike Zone)
Round 1: Collins lands a big right hand and gets a takedown to side mount. He lands hard punches until King gives his back. Collins locks in a rear-naked choke for the tap.

185 lbs: Nick Muto (Crush MMA) vs. Jorge Hernandez (Budo MMA)
Round 1: They start by pawing until Hernandez gets a takedown to guard. Muto misses an arm bar attempt and Hernandez uses it to pass to side. Hernandez hits some punches as Muto gets back to guard. Muto misses another arm bar, which Hernandez makes him pay for. They work to their feet as the round ends.
10-9 Hernandez
Round 2: Hernandez lands a shot and they clinch. Muto hits some knees and locks up a guillotine. Hernandez takes him down to half guard, but is forced to tap.

170 lbs: Wayne Ahlquist (Lakes Region Vale Tudo) vs. Leo Colgan (Santos)
Round 1: Colgan lands some leg kicks. Ahlquist responds with a middle kick. Colgan clinches and leg trips to half guard. He pounds and passes to side, kneeing until the round ends.
10-9 Colgan
Round 2: Both trade shots. Colgan lands a left hook and a takedown to guard. He passes to mount and punches. Ahlquist can’t buck him off, but manages to survive the round.

Round 3: Ahlquist throws another kick, but Colgan responds with a takedown to side mount. He punches before mounting. Again he lands shots and Ahlquist can’t escape. Colgan punches for the rest of the round, but can’t finish.

145 lbs: Fred Mandraccia (Lone Wolf) vs. Matt Pesteena (Aggression)
Round 1: Mandraccia pull some bush-league fake glove tap shit and then follows up by kicking Pesteena in the balls. Pesteena answers with a takedown to guard and Mandraccia attempts a weak guillotine. Pesteena punches to the ribs and escapes. He passes to half guard before the round ends.
10-9 Pesteena
Round 2: Mandraccia shoots, but Pesteena sprawls and forces him to side mount. Pesteena traps Mandraccia’s arms and punches until the referee stops the fight.
Winner by TKO at 0:53, round 2: Matt Pesteena
145 lbs: Joe Lunn (Dungeon MMA) vs. Adam Cascaneda (Strike Zone)
Round 1: Lunn punches to a clinch, but Cascaneda takes him down to guard. They both land shots before Lunn sweeps. Cascaneda quickly gets back to the top and goes to side mount. Lunn regains his guard, where Cascaneda lands some leather. The shots get harder before the round ends.

Round 2: Cascaneda comes out with leg kicks, which Lunn answers with a right hook. Cascaneda takes Lunn down, but Lunn gets up to a clinch. Both knee and Lunn locks in a guillotine. He pulls guard, but Cascaneda escapes. Lunn locks in a kimura and uses it to get up, where he takes Cascaneda’s back. He lands some shots, but Cascaneda escapes to half guard and gets some shots in of his own. The round ends, but it’s close.

Round 3: They trade a bit before Lunn clinches. Cascaneda takes him down to guard and starts landing progressively harder shots. Soon enough, the ref is forced to step in.

HW: Mark Hoxie (Hoxie Brothers) vs. Parker Porter
Round 1: Hoxie shoots. Porter sprawls and takes his back. He lands strikes. Hoxie rolls to the bottom of mount. Porter lands more shots and attempts a paintbrush, but Hoxie escapes. Porter lands more from mount and Hoxie taps.
Winner by submission (punches) at 1:09, round 1: Parker Porter
170 lbs: Brian Pohlmeyer (The Lot) vs. Pierre Perry (CCFA)
Round 1: Perry starts landing strikes almost at will, peppering Pohlmeyer with kicks. Pohlmeyer pulls half guard and Perry starts hitting punches. Pohlmeyer rolls through for a tight heel hook, but Perry spins out to the top of guard. He slams and punches Pohlmeyer a bit. Perry hits a huge slam as the round ends, nearly knocking Pohlmeyer out.

Round 2: Pohlmeyer lands a leg kick. Perry returns one and takes him down to guard. Perry pounds until the ref stops the fight.

Grappling Match: Kelly Luchs vs. Fernando Perez
Luchs starts off with takedown to half guard, making it 2-0. Perez gets to his feet. Luchs hits another takedown. 4-0. Luchs then passes to mount. 6-0. Perez gets half guard and locks in a heel hook. Luchs manages to escape, but it was tight. 6-2. Luchs passes, making it 8-2. Perez gets half guard, and both work to their feet. Luchs gets another takedown to half guard. 10-2. Luchs works a guillotine attempt as the round ends.

155 lbs: Joe DeChaves (Boneyard) vs. Joe Proctor (Aggression)
Round 1: Both land some strikes. Proctor gets a takedown to guard. DeChaves holds tightly. Proctor lands a few shots to the ribs and head before the ref stands them up. Proctor lands some punches and a takedown. DeChaves gets up and lands knees in the clinch. Proctor gets another takedown and pounds from side mount.
10-9 Proctor
Round 2: DeChaves misses a Superman punch. Proctor answers with a right and they clinch. Proctor pushes DeChaves to the fence. They trade knees and switch off the fence for most of the round. Proctor hits a takedown and goes to DeChaves’s back as the round ends.

Round 3: DeChaves hits a Superman punch and again Proctor hits a right. DeChaves lands leg kicks. Proctor hits another right hand, but DeChaves answers with more kicks. Proctor is controlling the center of the cage, but DeChaves is throwing more strikes. Proctor lands a left hook and they clinch. Both land punches. DeChaves shoots for a takedown, but Proctor defends.

185 lbs: Jeff Nader (CCFA) vs. Phil Dace (Dungeon MMA)
Round 1: Nader lands a ton of rights. Dace misses a few and Nader lands more. Dace gets a takedown to guard and starts taking control of the match. He lands some punches and passes to side. Nader gets his guard back, but Dace rides out the round on top.
10-9 Dace
Round 2: Nader hits an overhand right and they work to a clinch. Both knee before they break. Nader shoots, but Dace sprawls and takes his back. Dace punches until the ref stops the right.

155 lbs: Andrew Caron (Strike Zone) vs. Matt Bessette (Link)
Round 1: They clinch and both miss takedown attempts. They break and clinch again, where Bessette takes him down to half guard. Bessette lands some elbows. Caron kicks him off and gets to his feet. Bessette lands and they get to a clinch.

Round 2: Bessette kicks and shoots. Caron sprawls before Bessette clinches him to the cage. Bessette lands knees and slams Caron to guard. Bessette stands in open guard and both kick. Caron gets up and Bessette jumps into a guillotine as the round ends.

Round 3: Bessette clinches Caron to the fence and they both land shots. Bessette hits a head kick on the break and gets a takedown to guard. Caron tries a leg lock, but misses. Caron gets to his feet. Bessette lands a big shot, catches a kick, and takes Caron down again. Caron gives his back and Bessette locks in a choke as the bell sounds.

170: Nick Patterson vs. Thomas Vanderhorst
Round 1: Patterson comes out hard with quick strikes, landing punches and kicks. He lands a hard hook. Vanderhorst clinches and takes Patterson down to half guard. Patterson gets up into a guillotine. He escapes but lands in Vanderhorst’s guard. He punches and Vanderhorst locks in an arm bar. Patterson taps.

Bantamweight Title: Challenger Jeff Wahtola (Dungeon MMA) vs. Champion Tom Giove (South Shore Sportfighting)
Round 1: Giove teeps and Wahtola punches. Giove hits a nice takedown to guard. Wahtola gets up and Giove goes for a guillotine. Wahtola defends, but gets taken down to guard. Wahtola sweeps and punches. Giove gets to his feet. Wahtola lands strikes and Giove answers in kind. Wahtola hits a right hand and Giove misses a takedown as the round ends.
10-9 Giove
Round 2: Wahtola starts landing more punches as Giove keeps missing. Giove hits a leg kick, but Wahtola lands more rights. Giove shoots and Wahtola defends to half guard. Giove misses a heel hook attempt and Wahtola escapes to side mount. Giove gets to his knees, where Wahtola elbows and takes his back. Wahtola comes close with the choke, but Giove escapes to his feet. Both miss and Giove takes Wahtola down as the round ends.
10-9 Wahtola
Round 3: Giove misses a takedown and Wahtola lands some right hands. Wahtola starts landing more strikes that Giove doesn’t have an answer for. Giove shoots and Wahtola defends to the top of half guard. Giove works his way to his knees and takes Wahtola down. Wahtola gets up, but Giove locks in a guillotine. It’s too tight and Wahtola is forced to tap.
