Also, I mean no disrespect, but I have no idea who holds what belt in what style and I do not alter my grease inspections accordingly. If someone grabs me and says that their opponent is greasing in between rounds I can promise you that that fight will not continue until I have checked that fighter and toweled him down if neccessary.

First up thanks to CFX and everyone involved for putting together a great event. As far as what happened in the Silva/Beekman fight, both fighters were checked upon entering the cage by one of the referees. Beekman's corner came into the cage before the fight and told me that they did not get to put vaseline on his face before he got in the cage. I let them in and watched as they put a light covering on his face. Round 1 took place without incident or complaint. In between rounds I looked back and forth between corners as usual and saw nothing suspicious. After the fight Silvas corner was very concerned the the cornerman "with the gloves on" had grease "all over them" and had been rubbing down their fighter. I immediately walked over and asked to see his hands. There was no grease on the gloves and he was very surprised by my request.

I do not think that it is appropriate to start trying to throw people under the bus when certain pre-established protocols were not followed. I clearly stated during the rules meeting that "if something you do not agree with or outside the realm of what is normal happens, have a calm representative from your team approach Joe Esposito, the unpaid event arbitrator, that night and voice your complaint. Mr. Esposito will then determine if the complaint has merit, talk to appropriate parties and render a decision." After speaking with Mr. Esposito today he assures me that nobody ever spoke to him in regards to this issue.

The whole reason for having an arbitrator is for situations just like this. There is a difference between yelling out a complaint like "he's greasing like BJ Penn" at the referee and having a teammate go to the arbitrator and say "we have a serious concern that that particular fighter is using vaseline unfarily/illegally." I was told after the fight to "check his gloves" which I immediately did, then reported back that I found no grease and assumed the issue was settled.

I'm sorry that this has become such an issue and we always want to ensure that the right thing happens. In the future, if a team has a concern, please formally issue a complaint to whoever the governing body is THAT EVENING. Because unfortunately the more time that passes, the more difficult it is to gather information.

Congrats again to Loco Lobo...you trained hard for this fight and it showed (unlike your origional opponent) As far as Esposito goes I have found out first hand (without sounding to bad) he will take the high road on all decisions...

Im not going to argue with any of you stunads from NY or headshot fc. I was there I witnessed it first hand, theres nothing that can be done now, the ref was told, varner was told (joe esposito, where are you? doesnt this fall under your juristiction?) even though it is pointless now) even in the videos posted you can see how greased up beekman is before the fight even started and doused w/ water. I never say anything on this f*cking site but I saw wrong doing and will scream it out loud.

The ref should have had a towel available and should have checked both fighters before both rounds. end of story.
